DAY 1: Travel Day

International flights should be arranged to depart from the US on or before May 7th in order to arrive in Paris on the tour start date of May 8th.

DAY 2: Arrival in Paris

Tour participants may arrive in Paris at any time on day 2. Those who arrive early enough may participate in a visit to the Paris Opera House (for an additional fee) and/or to the Montmartre neighborhood of Paris, including Sacré Coeur. We will be staying near Les Halles, which is easy to reach via public transportation from the airport. Overnight in Paris.

DAY 3: Paris Highlights

Enjoy a tour of the stained-glass windows of Sainte Chapelle, a view of the fire-ravaged Notre Dame cathedral and a wander through the galleries and exhibits of the famous Louvre museum. Stroll along the Avenue des Champs-Élysées, a broad boulevard that is home to the world’s most fashionable high-end brands. Arrive at the Arc de Triomphe in time for a twilight view of the city. Overnight in Paris.

DAY 4: War Memorials & Museums

Explore the Paris Pantheon, known as ‘the temple of the French nation’. After lunch, tour Les Invalides military museum, famous as the final resting place of Napoleon and home to a large WWII collection. Ascend the Eiffel Tower for an incredible aerial view of the city of Paris. Overnight in Paris.

DAY 5: Monet’s Garden

Travel across the French countryside from busy Paris to the laid-back coastal towns and villages of the Normandy coast. We will make a stop at Monet’s Garden along the way to break up the long drive day. Overnight near Honfleur.

DAY 6: Along the Atlantic Wall

Tour the rebuilt Pegasus Bridge. Visit Arromanches des Bains, known during WWII as Port Winston, and view remnants of the Mulberry Harbor. Ramble among the remains of a WWII German artillery battery at Longues-sur-Mer. Pay your respects to the American troops who died and are buried at the Normandy American Cemetery and Memorial. Overnight in Bayeux.

DAY 7: Normandy Beaches

Stroll the famous landing sites at Utah Beach. Visit Angoville-au-Plain church, commemorating the war-wounded. Explore the winding alleys, steep stairs and humble shops that make up the incredible UNESCO World Heritage Site, Mont-Saint-Michel. Spend the evening wandering the beaches, walls, and old town of St. Malo, considered by the German army to be the linchpin of the Atlantic Wall. Overnight in St. Malo.

DAY 8: Island of Jersey

Take a day trip via ferry from St. Malo to the British-governed island of Jersey. Visit the capital, St. Helier. Travel through the Jersey War Tunnels to learn about the challenging struggles of the Jersey natives under German occupation during WWII. Overnight in St. Malo.

DAY 9: French Countryside

Return towards Paris via the quaint French villages of Vitré and Le Mans. Marvel at the beautiful Chartres cathedral, world-renowned for its numerous stained-glass windows and ornately sculpted portal entries. The cathedral has been a destination of Christian pilgrimages for hundreds of years. Overnight in Chartres.

DAY 10: Fontainebleau or Versailles

Travel to the Château de Fontainebleau which was the headquarters of German occupying forces during WWII. After the war, the château was used as the headquarters of the Allied Forces in Central Europe (AFCENT) and the land forces command (LANDCENT) from 1945 to 1965. As an alternative, the group may choose to instead spend the day visiting the palace at Versailles. Overnight near Paris airport.

DAY 11: Return Home

The tour concludes with hotel check-out by 11 a.m. Arrangements to the airport will be made for those leaving prior to 9 a.m. Early departures or later departures should plan their own transportation to the airport.

Tour Pricing And Payment Schedule

The WWII Historic Tour of France scheduled for May 2025 will be $3,450 per person, based on double occupancy. A $100 discount is given for payment in full at initial deposit; otherwise, the following payment schedule applies, per person:

Non-refundable deposit of $600 reserves spot (deposits made prior to Dec 31st, 2024 will receive a $100 discount, making the deposit $500).

Payment of $475 due on Dec 1st, 2024  
Payment of $475 due on Jan 1st, 2025
Payment of $475 due on Feb 1st, 2025
Payment of $475 due on Mar 1st, 2025
Payment of $475 due on Apr 1st, 2025
Final payment of $475 due on May 1st, 2025

If signing up after any deposit deadline, payment for any previous deposits will be due upon sign-up. Prompt payment is appreciated. Late payments are assessed a $25 late fee.

 

Solo supplement (single occupancy hotel rooms): $800 pp

Tour Inclusions and Exclusions

Included in the tour cost:

Pre-tour information, such as what to pack and how to exchange currency

Expertise of a tour guide throughout the tour

All sight-seeing and visits, as noted in the itinerary

All on-tour transportation, including trains, ferries, rental vehicles, and buses

One carry-on suitcase and one personal item due to space restraints in rental vehicles

All accommodations, based on double occupancy; typically, 3-star hotels

Not included in the tour cost:

International airfare and any related expenses

Travel insurance

Expenses due to flight delays, strikes, inclement weather or other irregularities

Passport fees, visas (including ETIAS for travel to EU) and visa photos as required

Personal items such as souvenirs, laundry services, beverages, snacks, and healthcare

Optional excursions as indicated in the itinerary

Meals as indicated in the tour itinerary

Checked baggage fees and excess baggage charges

Seat requests and seat upgrades

​Liability Waiver and Release Form

Please sign and return the Liability Waiver and Release Form for each tour participant. A parent or guardian must sign the form for any minor participants. A tour request is officially submitted when both the tour deposit and the Waiver and Release form are received by Aticus Travel, LLC for each tour participant.
